About

Who We Are

Sioux Falls Mutual Aid is a loose network of community members in and around the Sioux Falls-ish area who share what we have. No board, no staff, no office. Just people who decided that waiting on someone else to fix things wasn’t working.

Solidarity, Not Charity

Charity runs one direction and comes with strings. Someone decides whether you’re deserving, you fill out a form about your worst month, and help gets handed down. Mutual aid is sideways. The person who needs a ride this month might be the one cooking next month.

What We Actually Do

  • Food: community fridges, pantry runs, hot meals
  • Rides: appointments, groceries, court dates
  • Supplies: diapers, hygiene kits, warm layers, school stuff
  • Skills: repairs, resumes, childcare, translation, a second set of hands
  • Information: which groups have which resources, and which are just hot air

What’s on the list depends on who shows up and what people need that week.

How It Works

Ask. That’s the process. No application, no income check, no proof of anything. We don’t track who gave what or keep score. If we can help, we will. If we can’t, we usually know someone who can.

Getting Involved

You don’t have to commit to anything. Come to an event, join the Facebook group, drop something at a fridge, or tell us what you’re good at. Small and consistent beats big and once.
