SUMMARY:Cherub’s Closet Diaper Distribution
DESCRIPTION:Free diapers and baby clothes\, third Saturday of every month\, 1 to 3pm at Oak Hills Baptist Church\, 6201 S Lyncrest Ave. \n\n\n\nDiapers in newborn through size 6\, plus gently used clothing from newborn to 3T. While supplies last\, so earlier beats later. \n\n\n\nThere is no income test. Their words: “Anyone is able to come and get diapers for their child. You do not need to prove financial need.” No appointment either\, you just show up. \n\n\n\nBuuut\, bring two things or they cannot serve you: a photo ID\, and a piece of mail showing your current mailing address. They will also write down your child’s name and date of birth. \n\n\n\nOne pack of diapers per child\, up to two packs per family per month. \n\n\n\nIf you are pregnant\, you can start coming in the two months before your due date. \n\n\n\nIf you want someone else to be able to pick up for you later\, you have to come in person yourself at least once first. \n\n\n\nRun by a Baptist church. Nothing in their own description asks you to attend a service or take part in anything religious to get diapers. \n\n\n\n6201 S Lyncrest Ave. They publish no phone number for the program. The church office email is admin@oakhills.net. oakhills.net/reach/cherubs-closet

SUMMARY:Café Mortel
DESCRIPTION:Free and open to all. People gather\, eat and drink something\, and talk about death. \nThat’s the whole format. It’s a discussion group\, not grief support and not counseling. No agenda\, no themes\, and nobody is trying to lead you toward a conclusion or sell you anything. The point\, in the organizers’ words\, is to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their finite lives. \nRun by Sandrine of the Nourish Collective\, hosted at Transitions. This was previously called Death Café; the French name felt gentler to the people running it. \nCome as you are\, whether you’ve been before or not. There’s cake. \nEvent details: Café Mortel on Facebook\nHost: transitionsdoulaservices.com\nAbout the format: deathcafe.com

SUMMARY:Mutual Aid Gathering 10/27
DESCRIPTION:Monthly Gathering\nGather with the community around a free meal! \nJoin the Sioux Falls Mutual Aid community for free food\, rummage\, and information on local health and social services. Come together to strengthen our community and create opportunities for connection. Always family-friendly. \n2026 Schedule: \n\nOctober 27\nNovember 24\nDecember 22\n\nMutual aid has been a vital resource for vulnerable community members for centuries. At its core\, mutual aid involves the sharing of skills\, money\, resources\, or information outside the influence of power-imbalanced government entities\, charity\, and profit-driven motives. Everyone has an equal voice\, opinion\, and chance to benefit from the system.

SUMMARY:Joint City / Lincoln County Meeting: Data Centers
DESCRIPTION:The Sioux Falls City Council and the Lincoln County Commission meet jointly to discuss data centers. This is the follow-up they promised after the August meeting\, where a proposed moratorium on data centers failed 3 to 2\, along with a proposed ban on non-disclosure agreements in the joint jurisdiction area. \nConcerns raised so far have been energy costs\, water use\, property values\, and how much of the development agreements stay private. \nThe city lists a 7:00pm start and no end time. Public comment is not confirmed on the city’s listing either. If you plan to speak\, check the agenda when it posts or call the city first. \nCity meeting listing: siouxfalls.gov\nWhat happened in August: Dakota News Now\nBackground on data centers in South Dakota: South Dakota Data Center Transparency
